Brooklyn Nets Will Distribute Thanksgiving Supplies to the Needy

Every year, the Brooklyn Nets hold an event where they distribute Thanksgiving food supplies to underprivileged people and families. This year, the event will be held on Monday, November 23 from 2-3pm at Bed Stuy-Campaign Against Hunger.

This event, which serves the Brooklyn community, will see players hand out Thanksgiving essentials. Items include turkey, stuffing and all the side dishes needed to make a complete Thanksgiving meal. All of the food is donated by Key Food, which is the official supermarket of the Brooklyn Nets.

The Bed-Stuy Campaign Against Hunger is part of the Brooklyn Nets Assist program. The program stands to support four key pillars: Education, Athletics, Health and Wellness, and Community Development. It is the larges pantry in Brooklyn, providing foodstuffs to around 30,000 low-income individuals each month.

The Nets event tips off the NBA Cares Season of Giving initiatives that see NBA teams involved in their communities throughout the holiday season.

The Nets season is one of the worst in the league, and doesn’t seem to show any signs of improvement anytime soon. But their record is not holding them back from giving back to the community that supports them through the good times and the bad. They may not be the Nets of the 70s, but the appreciation they have for their fans and the community where they live extends outside the arena.
