Patch Media: Closing the Summer Hunger Gap – HelloFresh + The Campaign Against Hunger Host Meal Distribution
School is out, which should mean it’s time for summer fun. But for so many families, summer is the hungriest time of year. In fact, according to a new survey from HelloFresh, nearly half of parents are more worried today than they were this time last year about putting food on the table for their kids.
The Campaign Against Hunger, HelloFresh, and No Kid Hungry are working together to close the summer hunger gap for kids in Brooklyn. The three organizations distributed 4,000 HelloFresh meals with wholesome, easy-to-follow recipes designed especially for families and kids in mind. Participating families also received information on grocery benefits for the summertime, including Summer EBT, SNAP Benefits, and a free local meal finder, courtesy of No Kid Hungry.
This community event was part of a new 13 for 13 Million campaign, a joint initiative from HelloFresh and No Kid Hungry that aims to raise awareness of the issue of childhood food insecurity and its effect on 13 million kids nationwide.
